Why are we even having this poll? Who is going to say "no"?
First they took away the bops, and I did not speak out — because I did not go to them that much.
Then they took away 24/7 access to the library, and I did not speak out — because I did not use it that much.
Then they took away the sports noticeboard, and I did not speak out — because I did not play that much sport.
...
Seriously, liberty vs some paranoid notion of "protecting reputation", you can't make this shit up.
I'd have thought it was clear why we're having this poll...to show just how much having a sports noticeboard means to the JCR. It's a vital tool for motivating the student body, and we want it back! Maybe not in the same place, if the powers that be are concerned over reputation...why not the Bar though? It's the hub of the JCR anyway, and would be a perfect place for some pro-Queens' sports-based propaganda.
Personally, I always enjoyed seeing the wordplays the teams came up with. There were several involving Emma which were pretty imaginative...
I think it's a bit of a farce that the board was fully taken down due to a sole complaint. Queens' may have a reputation to uphold, true, but the college has just as much a duty to present the active role of students in the college, part of which is sports. Why deny the victorious teams their small moment of triumph? I don't think changing the location will alter the situation, as it's just as liable to 'cause offence', if members of the public are wandering about. It hasn't caused a problem before now, and it should stay in the same place it's always been in.
This whole situation's completely ridiculous, I just don't understand the reaction of the College. Obviously people shouldn't be writing slogans which cause offence to anyone. But if it happens, then I imagine it's pretty clear which sports team is responsible, so why can't the college just have a word with the captain of that sport, and tell them to tone it down? Taking the board down is totally illogical, and yet another badly thought through knee-jerk reaction, which will further sour the relationship between the JCR and SCR. What were they thinking?

I was gutted when I found out the board had been taken down just before my first win for Queens'.
