It's that time of year again! Freshers Week promises hedonistic debauchery characteristic of any introduction to university! And where would all your boozey exploits be without QBar, the hub of college social life? Look out for an exciting array of events organised by your Freshers Reps and Bar Rep (detailed below). And remember, QBar can also be a more chilled alternative to those big cheesy club nights should the excitement be getting just too much for you.

Coffee Shop

Opening times: 10:00am to 4:00pm every week day

Our delicious coffee shop offers a vast array of cheap hot and cold drinks and savoury and sweet snacks, including paninis, wraps, baguettes, doughnuts, brownies and cookies...

Ask about our summer specials: strawberries and cream, and a variety of other cooling treats

Look out for our great promotions in the Coffee Shop this coming term.

A perfect place to chill out during the day, have a quick lunch, do yesterday's essays, or catch up with friends. Enjoy our fresh batch of national rags every morning - from The Sun to the Guardian.

Bar

Opening times:
6:30pm - 11pm Sunday - Thursday
6:30pm - 11:30pm Friday and Saturday

We offer a selection of quality lagers, ciders and wines (also available at Formal prices), different ales on tap, a range of spirits, and a massive selection of soft drinks. We also serve a selection of bar snacks, sandwiches and coffee to get you through the long night.

If you're looking for a decent atmosphere, and good company, where better than QBar?
Queens' bar is buzzing every evening - even more so when events are being held in College. Always a great place to start on any night out, and a perfect accompaniment to a fast sweaty night at Queens' celebrated bops. Look out for regular events such as Candle Club, as well as one offs like our hugely successful election cocktail night.

Come along to our Quiz nights on alternate Mondays, for all your trivial needs.

Every night is bring your own music night. Just ask the staff to whack your iPod in the player and enjoy your very own (preferrably not too cheesy - that's what Cindies is for) tunes.

QBar is also available for the screening of all the sports matches you desire. Simply ask the staff to operate the big screen and make sure it doesn't clash with some other big televised event. In the case of matches outside bar hours, contacting the Bar Rep (jcr-bar@queens.cam.ac.uk) should allow you to enjoy these too. Don't forget - the bar must be returned to the condition you found it when you're done!

Freshers Term

This Michaelmas we are looking into hosting a thrilling cascade of events:
Candle Club - watch some of Queens' best musical talent in this mellow open-mic night (surrounded by rather pretty candles). Get in touch with your bar rep to get involved!
Karaoke Night - like Candle Club for the talentless! Enjoy a few drinks with your mates and croon along to some classic ballads or blast out some rock 'n' roll cheese!
Casino Night - with a selection of Vegas-style games of vice, see if your luck is in tonight!
LGBT Cocktail Night - re-igniting QBar's partnership with Queens' LGBT, delight in some tasty professional cocktails. Promises to be a colourful night, all welcome.
And many more.

The bar is also always willing to host JCR Hustings and Open Meetings - and everyone knows just how EXCITING they are.

We have 2 pool tables, a table football table and a quiz machine if the banter round the bar isn't doing it for you. Just please don't abuse the pool tables/cues/the staff! Feel free to abuse the Bar Rep though...

Our fantastically friendly bar staff are always willing to listen to suggestions or comments, or why not get in touch with your bar rep, Luke Lythgoe (jcr-bar@queens.cam.ac.uk), and feel free to let me know of any ideas you have for the bar or if you'd like a particular program/match/film shown on the TV screens.

If you are a sports captain/head of a society, why not get in touch with Lydia Gayle, the Sports and Societies Rep, who can help personalise the bar for you (why not give us some photos of your teams or society interests to put up?!).

On a more uncharacteristically sober note:
Queens' is a sensible college; QJCR encourages sensible drinking. Please know your limits, and if you make any mess (of any kind), please clear it up after you. Also, please remember that it is prohibited to bring your own alcohol into the bar (and stupid at the prizes we offer it!). If you are found to have done so, you will be Dean-ed - so watch it!
