Funding

(Please see http://www.cusu.cam.ac.uk/union/budget/ for full info on the CUSU budget)

Affiliation Fee

This is CUSU’s main and most stable source of income. College Unions affiliate to CUSU by financial contribution; currently, they pay a fee of £5.75 per undergraduate and £2.61 per graduate, on each student’s behalf (note: students themselves at no point pay any money towards affiliation fees)

Grants and Sponsors

Grants are variable through the years but can be significant. In 2010-11, CUSU was awarded £4900 for specific Access project work from the Cambridge Admissions office.

External corporate sponsors and society stalls at the CUSU Societies Fair create an additional income stream. Due to recent success at the fairs, this income is now carefully maintained.

Services

These derive from entertainment (CUSU Ents), The Cambridge Student (TCS), publications and welfare services – such as sexual health supplies (note: as these items are sold at cost price, increased income is directly tied to corresponding increased expenditure).
