The Dial
Isabel Keating ilk23
In 2008 The Dial – a creative writing magazine, taking its name from a Queens’ based publication of 1906 to 1953 – was established to exhibit fresh and stimulating work produced by students today. An edition of The Dial is published each term showcasing pieces of creative writing – these can be anything from poems to short stories, descriptive passages or short dramatic pieces – written by students from across the university. After a mid-term deadline, which is e-mailed to our mailing list, there is an editorial meeting that anyone is welcome to attend. The entries are judged anonymously and are narrowed down to a shortlist to be published in the edition for that term (writers will be notified before we go to print). The printed copies are then distributed as widely as possible (placed in porters’ lodges etc.) If you can’t get hold of a hard copy you can look at the current and previous editions on our website: http://thedial.org.uk/ . We also have a Facebook group (‘The Dial’) where you can find out news and details of any readings coming up.
