Sports and Societies
A warm welcome to the extensive non-academic side of Queens!
There is a wide variety of exciting opportunities to be explored at Queens’ whether your interests be performing, sporting or musical. I’m here to make sure that these things run smoothly and ensure that everyone has the chance to take part. Filling your spare time will be no problem, and all you need to bring is enthusiasm! There is something for everyone.
For any information on a particular sport, society or event, this website will keep you updated on the busy activities around College. You can also contact me directly, and I will try put you in touch with the people in the know, or if you’re looking to set up something new, I will do my best to help!
My hope is that this year, Sports, Societies and Entertainments will continue to be a major part of College life, and provide an alternative to the academic curriculum, where you can meet like-minded people and enjoy the experiences. These things are so important to health and happiness at Queens’, and I fully intend to make sure that the opportunities are always open to all.
Queens’ is lucky to have its own gym on site: Queens’ Gym
Queens’ is always keen to support students involved in high-level activities, and will offer financial and tutorial aid to those involved, regards of the activity. For music and performing, it is worth getting in touch with the heads of the societies, who will know more. For sports players involved in University level competition or higher, grants are available through College and more information can be found with Andrew Thompson, act25. You can also fill out this form to apply for financial support.
